Our History
Established in 1996, the Yorkhill Family House was located on the site of the former children's hospital in Yorkhill. For nearly 30 years, it has provided accommodation and support to families with seriously ill children, offering compassion and care during their most challenging times.
In June 2015, the hospital moved to the Royal Hospital for Children at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where we proudly continue to support families today. In November 2024, the Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity expanded its network to enhance support for families of children undergoing treatment in Glasgow.
With generous funding from Alison and Steve Reid-Timoney, Crossbasket House, provides on-site accommodations and comprehensive support services, including emotional, financial, and practical assistance, to families in need.
Since 2001, the Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity has invested over £45 million in support services and improvements at the Royal Hospital for Children and its related maternity, neonatal, and pediatric facilities across West Scotland.
Thanks to the generosity of our donors, fundraisers, and volunteers, Crossbasket House remains a safe haven for families and caregivers during their most difficult times.
