Monica and Alfie's Story

20 November 2024 Monica and Alfie

When Alfie was born, he needed specialist care from teams at the Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow. His mum, Monica, wanted to be as near to Alfie as possible, but couldn't stay overnight in the hospital.

Thankfully, Crossbasket House was there for the family. Just a short 5 minute walk from the hospital, the House provided accommodation for Monica, with her own bedroom and bathroom, and shared kitchen and living spaces to ensure she could get some much-needed respite whenever she wasn't at Alfie's bedside.

In this video, Monica gives us a tour of the House, showcasing the incredible rooms and features that help ensure that Crossbasket House is a home away from home for those families who need it most.

"The House kept us close to Alfie, and that gave us the strength to be there for him every step of the way."
